Shield of Atlantis Leandros Navaar / Hatchery Leandros Navaar was asleep safe and sound in his bunk. He truly slept for the first time in a very long time. He dreamed of times long since passed. He dreamed of the fields of his homeland. Of the crops he cared for and of the animals that counted on his timely arrival with food and water. The smell of wheat and open blue skies permeated the air. He was home. But then, in the distance he heard the sound of ringing. Ringing like church bells. They chimed a lovely tune rhythmically until one chime was louder than the others making Leandros shift in place. Then another. And another until he finally awoke and fell from his bunk. He grabbed the back of his head which throbbed in pain and the painful reality of his life came crashing back to him.
The bells to signify the next hatchery were well underway and he sighed to himself. He already passed on the first hatchery, but according to those around him it was only a matter of time. Why did he deserve such a gift? These were magnificent and beautiful creatures whose undying loyalty is unparallelled by anything or anyone existing. Why should he even hope against hope? He left his comrades on Earth to come live in safety here. In this place of wonder straight from the fantasy novels he used to read as a boy. It was all so surreal. Still, it was a new day and he needed to get it underway. In Leandros' mind, there was no time to waste on anything.
His usual course of the day was to get to work. Anywhere, and in any form he looked for work. He was a simple man. All he wanted out of life was good and honest work to carry him through comfortably. The idea of any kind of family still would make him shake the thoughts from his mind. No matter how well off he would make himself, he wasn't sure if he would ever be ready for a family again. Still, he set out to peruse the city for work.
As he explored the city, he always found new things and new places to see. The people were always usually very nice to him, though some Lantians and even some Humans treated him as though he didn't belong. It probably had something to do with his calm and almost unfeeling demeanor. Still, it never stopped him from helping out where he can. While looking for work, however, the bells still rang and he found himself staring off to where the hatchery was. There was a...pull. The best way to describe it is something was yanking him there. No matter how hard Leandros tried to resist such a pull, he always stood staring at the hatchery.
Leandros stood in such a reverie when an older woman by the name of Anise approached him. "You best be going there, lad. You are being called." She was always kind to him and he helped her out when he could. Fixing her household or running errands that she had trouble doing on her own. Her words weighed on him, however. 'Me, being called to the hatchery? It couldn't be...but this feeling.' He decided then that it must be something and not just his own imagination and false hope tricking him into it. He merely nodded to the older woman and set out for the hatchery.
Even just getting close to the hatchery was a spectacle to behold. This sort of thing must be a holiday of sorts for these people. Why though? The cheering and celebration was alive and well in the streets, as though the entire area was in one big party. Leandros simply waded through the crowds using his size to his advantage and pushed through to the hatchery.
Within the great room, he saw a tree tower above him, but the branches hung low and plentiful. All around there were others there with their bonds happily getting to know them and playing with them. Not wanting to bother the others in their moment, he reluctantly walked forth up to the tree. He glanced about but saw or felt nothing. That pull he felt before was gone. Maybe it was all just a part of a false hope that he could befriend such a creature. But, he wasn't going to let himself down just that easily and moved forth with silent purpose among the eggs.
Each egg had very colorful shells. Some were green and blue with purple and red. Swirls, circles, zig-zags, and every pattern the human mind was capable of conceiving lay on these eggs. There was no rhyme or reason to the egg patterns, but they were a joy to marvel at. As he moved from egg to egg, he sought out that same feeling as before. The search seemed like an eternity, maybe he shouldn't be there at all. Maybe this was a mistake and he was simply making a fool of himself by being there at all. These thoughts and more plagued his mind until he stopped in place.
The sensation he felt from before, only magnified lay hovering above him. The egg on the branch? He eyed the orange egg with pulsating green and blue spots with anticipation. That must be it. He glanced to his left and found a perch with which to lift himself up. The task was minimal, and he easily perched himself on the lowermost branch. As he started on the next branch, he could feel the egg pound at his mind. His mouth was dry and heart raced. The excitement he felt at this opportunity was nothing less than euphoric. However, he maintained his composure, only letting go a small smile.
Leandros finally lifted himself up on the topmost branch and moved in front of the egg. Once he was in front of it, the sensations stopped all at once. Like the egg itself was almost timid. Leandros sat on the branch in front of his egg and simply stared at it. What now? Does he touch it? Does he dare try to move it? After sizing up the egg, he noted the branch curled around the egg and decided that for all his strength, he probably couldn't win a tug of war with a supernatural tree. So, Leandros simply sat in front of it staring at it in concentration. CODED BY DUCKIE OF GS

Mei couldn’t help but feel bored as her attention was wandering now, the cadets around her were now busy with their new friends and companions. She did have to give a passing hiss to the feral blade and mage hatchlings as they started to size one another up. But this was once again a typical hatching, so far everything was … dreadfully normal. And for a Kabit that was torture. She stood her arms crossed over her chest as her large pink ears flicked about always listening in on all around her. But then, her torture broke as the door’s to the hatchery swung way to emit a straggler. ~ Late Comer! ~ Mei thought her head swiveling about so her vivid green eyes could lock onto Leandros as he entered. Mei stayed where she was though and silently watched as he made his way through the orchard and examined the many eggs around him. The wonder on his face pleased Mei for she took her job serious and these eggs were her job. But as he paused before the Taurus Tree’s Nest Mei’s head tilted as she watched the nimble human scale the crystalline tree with ease. But as he sat beside the egg he seemed confused, staring blankly at the shell before him. Mei sighed and made a “Tsk” Sound before crouching down a little beside Ceres. She suddenly sprang up into the air and vanished in a plume of silvery smoke. Seconds later the weight of the branch Leandros sat upon suddenly swayed as something ‘landed’ behind him. Suddenly Leandros would be curtained by a cascade of sakura pink hair and livid green eyes would appear in his periphery vision. “Let me Help you” The devious purr cooed from her silky voice just before Leandros would be grabbed from behind and forcefully shoved into the surface of the Egg#19! She held him for only a second but that was all that was needed as both of his hands would surely lock on the front of the egg and soul would his right cheekbone! Suddenly scrawling golden runes would run from the surface of the egg up both Leandros arm’s and a jagged rune would form on his right cheekbone. All the while a horrible searing pain crushed down upon Leandros like the weight of the world, or the very gravity around him had turned. His lungs would feel crushed as if air was no where to be sipped. The pain would only grow exceeding the limitations of any pain he may have felt before then suddenly just as if the world was about to explode around him, the first hiss of pressure released as the shell of the egg splintered down the side. Then another and another until finally; the shell completely crumbled from beneath Leandros’ hands and face releasing him from the torment of being crushed. If he remained conscious he would realize… egg 19 had hatched… The Shield drak female chirped and squirmed about trying to wiggle her way out of the tree branches grasp. Mei would appear behind the hatchling on another branch and whistling the branch would slowly uncurl until the golden bronze drak would spill into her new companions lap. “Very Good! You have a Shield Class Drak” Mei said completely ignoring the fact that she had just face planted his ass into the egg only a moment before the devious female continued. “She will prefer fruits and veggies more than meats, but she is still a type of Dragon and will want the red meat on occasions. She and you now share the element of Earth. Tell me Leandros What will you name her?” The Kabit asks her green eyes lifting once more to stare Leandros down.

Shield of Atlantis Leandros Navaar / Hatchery The large man sat there in introspection. What was this egg calling him for? What did he do now if this was his bond? Should he touch it? That seemed foolish. Maybe, talk to it. That seemed even more foolish. Leandros couldn't help but feel that the egg was almost shying away from him. As these thoughts ran rampant in his mind, he saw the trappings of light hair appear just in his line of sight. He kept his face still, but moved his eyes upward to see large green eyes regard him with mischievous intent. Before Leandros could say or do much of anything, he was thrust with surprising force into the egg in front of him.
Any debate he had to her actions was swiftly derailed by searing pain running up his arms. The strength it took to muster his eyes open to see the golden runes crawl up his arms was a strength he never knew he had. The pain was unbearable and the runes seared against his skin. The runes eventually settled on the right side of his face and seared his skin in a brand. Leandros' mind was more taken by the fact he was being crushed by some unforeseen weight. It pressed him against the egg like it intended to crush him into a paste then and there. Try as he might to lift himself from the egg, it was to no avail. His hands and arms were firmly planted on the egg's shell and there was no getting away from it. He wasn't able to breathe and his vision began to go black.
But then, all at once, the egg gave way before he did. It crumbled down with a sharp hissing noise as Leandros fell back onto the tree branch. He darted angry eyes at his assailant and open his mouth to speak, but was cut off from another hissing noise. The egg shell entirely crumbled away and a creature spilled forth onto his lap. As it fell onto him, he let out a grunt as the baby drak was much heavier than he anticipated. "Oh boy, you are a heavy one." He said with a smile and patted the Drak's head, enjoying the chirping sounds it produced. He ran his hands along the Drak's head, neck and body, feeling the rough scales and thought that this one could probably break down a wall with little to no effort. It stretched its wing out almost catching Leandros' nose, but he avoided the potential break and could only laugh. The colors of its scales shone brilliantly with light in a bronze metallic hue.
He almost didn't even hear the female Kabit as he was so enthralled with the creature. It was something to care for. It gave him direction and purpose. It..she? He heard the Kabit say. Somehow, he knew the Drak was a female, but hearing it only affirmed his feeling. "Arabella. Her name, is Arabella" He said smiling at the Drak. The creature and the responsibilities it carried reminded him of where he came from. Another life that will depend on him for survival. Leandros understood she was going to be more than just some animal to care for, but a companion more loyal than any he's known. His little trance with Arabella was cut short when he noticed the Kabit was the one the pushed him. He met her stare in a lock and grimaced. "You could've warned me you know." He said with slight anger. Was it really necessary?

Mei lifted a sleeved hand before her face and started to simply walk across the air towards Leandros as he glared at her. “Careful little human…” Her voice purred but a silky deadliness also trailed behind her rolling tongue. She however ignored his slight and nodded approval of the naming. “Arabella is a good name for one such as she. I believe you to will be good for each other." She stepped back onto the branch Arabella and Leandros shared and cocking her head to the side she appeared to be listening to something. After a moment she nodded. “Yes Ma’am… “ She looked back at Leandros. “NAVI says you are to report to the Naefell Academy to Arcis Knight Sceltyr Delnir. She will be expecting your arrival.” She looked the boy over as if surprised he was still sitting there. “Tsk… Didn’t they tell you…” She motioned about the cavern as other cadet’s were also being sent on their way to various dorms. “Your in the Aligned Wing Forces now! All Drakian bonds are to train for war you silly thing.” She giggled and with a spring vanished into thin air while her giggle still echoed about the room. [LEANDROS MAY PROCEED TO THE DORMS!]

LET THEM EAT CAKE!! Darkness swam around as the smell of iron ran up her noise and refused to leave. A sense of feral animalistic murder reigned in her mind. Through the darkness she walked. A shadow of herself eyes a violent almost unrecognizable version of a bubbly girl's own blue ones. Now corrupted and possessed into a demonic blue that could kill with just a stare. A girl of eighteen stood upon rubble in this darkness. Looking to see nothing but destruction, death, and to her oddly enough this was what she needed, craved, and it was not over. The lust for blood would continue and it needed to continue. Tore clothes of past fluttered briefly as she felt the harsh conditions batter her body but it did not matter. All she needed was to kill and to keep killing... Survive and kill...
Yet suddenly came a voice in the darkness. A voice that brought tears to such terrorizing eyes. As if tears were holy water once lids went to blink them away all signs of corruption and possession was gone. The smell of blood was replaced with the smell of hot food and a vase of roses. A warmth of something only a mother could provide during times of war with what little she had with bountiful love she had. Destruction turned into small little huts and houses that belonged to friends and neighbors, death turned into life, and that monster that clawed to get out oddly enough screamed but was overcome by the sun that was her mother. A shining beckon in her life. Now passed but forever a savior in her life shaping her to be whom she was today.
Suddenly the light became so bright she winced and fluttered her eyes. Hearing a beeping noise she heard the noise of what she could only assume were started birds or something. When she was able to keep her eyes open rather frighteningly frozen blue eyes remained open as she took in what was her surroundings and yet what might have been a scary young girl was simply a girl completely amused but the flock of Lantian nurses rushing about doing their job. Apparently she was part of it and she woke up just in time to make it a lot more difficult. So beyond those cold eyes held a amused smile and a bubbly spirit. Something one did not usually see. One that could easily confuse and yet she had no clue of it at all. She just watched as the Lantians which she recognized from her memories went around in circles doing what they needed to do.
Lantians had been the one thing that always confused this bright eyed girl. Not because they were things from legend or because they already were able to use Aether or whatever you wanted to call it... Rather it was the way they kept telling her to in the most cliche manner to follow her heart. No... No... Not in the sense of finding someone to love but that weird feeling she felt since waking up. In all honesty she remembered every crazy detail of her life and did not feel any hate for it. In fact in a weird way she felt like it humbled her. Although if you looked at her while at a dinner table you might not think so. Although their first questions were all fine and dandy, you know how do you feel, what do you feel, do you remember anything, what do you remember... So many questions.
She had no reason to lie and she parried questions with questions of her own. Some got answers but many were shoved away as not being important enough. Most might have gotten angry but all it got was an eye roll or a silly face from her. Considering her background she was used to this type of treatment. At least now she did not have to worry about war at her throat. Although apparently that was not true contrary to the appearance of where she was. Everyone was still biting at the bit to go to it or something. She would get those answers eventually once they finally were done annoying her with their questions and telling her she needed to follow the feeling that woke her up. Would they be upset if she told them the feeling was hunger?
Probably not... Knowing the Lantian nurses that bumbled about it would probably be giggled at and then lightly scolded before being told like she was a child that it was something else or whatever. She did not have time for that she honestly really wanted something... She kind of wanted something with frosting... Yet poking, prodding, ugh... She wondered if everyone else was having to deal with this crap or not. She had heard that bells had rung a bit ago to signal something and basically hint hint... Well unless it was the dinner bell she was not catching the drift. She felt something she was not going to lie but for her let it be this apparent calling or an empty stomach she rather it be the empty stomach. Even if it was just an excuse to get some food. She never had Lantian food before.
Suddenly she was ushered out of bed. Now no longer speaking in rushed Lantian one nurse spoke to her. She seemed a little on edge. "The hatching is still going on despite the day of it's official beginning being over. Please go there. You will find what you awoke for there. If you do not then there is always another hatching but if you woke now it must be this group." Melody was almost curious to ask why this nurse was so freaked out. Actually a few of them seemed rather freaked out. Had something happened or something? When she shrugged and pointed to the general direction, "That way?" She said in a relaxed voice. The nurse seemed to calm down. "Uh um yes that way a guide will help you find your way after you are given your clothes and belongings."
With a cheerful smile she went off to where the nurse had pointed to where her belongings and said guide was. He seemed to be rather quick on his feet and was in no mood to talk at current so she made she to grab her stuff and get dressed quickly before hopping off after him to follow where this apparent hatchling area was. She still was curious to know why the nurses were still upset. Little did she know she would soon find out on her own and meet said person. So making her way she looked about taking in the sights the best she could as she let her feet rush after the guide who then silently pointed her into a room. Entering she gave a little oh of her lips at the crystal. She noticed there was a creature she never met before. Seemed to be dealing with a few others who were also behind.
Well she was just going to have to dive in she guessed. Follow that feeling right. With a light shrug she went on her very merry way with a round this way and around that way. All about the lower level before deciding in was around the middle but none of those eggs on the actual bottom. Taking note that some were actually missing. After climbing up she took notice the feeling got a bit stronger and with some nimble workings she was able to find that tree limb that held the egg that was holding the egg that held her bondmate as she heard them call them among a few other things. She noticed one other Cadet put their hand on the egg and their reaction showed they felt pain. Well... Whatever. No guts no glory. So with that she put her hands on the egg. For a moment it felt like all the air was being sucked out of her lungs and into her arms. Which felt like they were being crushed by the force of air.
To say it was not painful would be a lie but the girl was stubborn if not anything she she oddly enough just stared at the egg not giving into the painful feeling. It was like when she had to deal with her kidnappers. Have fun with it no matter how much it hurts and it would go a lot faster. So she focused more on the fact it seemed to be hatching allowing for some weird vents to appear that flashed almost. That despite her feeling like she was on the verge of dying made her wonder just what she was getting. If this had anything to do with weather she was going to say well worth it. Although she wondered if earth could make food... The thought did not last long as the pain grew stronger. Her head swam but something in her kept her from reacting like a typical Cadet not that she had any clue. She just kept watching with a excited look on her face despite the feeling of pain crushing every inch of her body. words;1540 tag;none notes;none credit to tori of adoxographyv2

Mei had moved back into the shadows after Leandrose had made his exit. She was still present though within the shadows her lime green eyes lighting the darkness every now and again as she looked about the cavernous room and inspected her Maid Hands helping the straggler cadets. This hatching was still pretty much full so Mei was not surprised when Melody’s silky pink hair appeared. Green eyes watched in curiosity finally something was happening. This day had been drab after all. As she climbed the tree her nimble foot work impressed the Kabit and she decided to step out of the darkness. The girl would place her hand upon the egg just as Mei appeared a few limbs away on silent soft padded toes. Her green eyes studied the human whilst she bonded knowing the egg’s origin to be a second tier air element the girl was surely in pain. The amount of Aether that egg had held was plentiful and it showed as the first cracks appeared. Strange dim flashed of electricity peeked from between seems of the egg shall cracks. Then suddenly the wind picked up around the egg and the girl, catching her hair and picking up small pieces of the shell as it whirled in a funnel around her. Then suddenly in an almost silent BOOM! The shell split apart to reveal a jet blue blade male Drak. Bright blue eyes lit his face while his scales were patterned in ice blue lightning markings. The Drak perked his head up and curious bright eyes studied Melody as he chirruped to her and nibbled a spare piece of eggshell. Mei was curious this egg had produced a completely opposite Drak coloration then it’s eggshell. The bright pink almost Easter egg styled Drak egg had stood out in the already colorful batch, but now that it had hatched the air element was a dark night’s cloud with bright flashes of purple like pink and lightning blue marks, it was an opposite hatch Mei nearly giggled but remaining where she was and crouching down she asked the girl. “A Blade Male, what will you name him?” After Melody told the name she decided the Kabit would log it in the Hatchery Banks, and stand again. “Be careful with a blade, they are quick to snap, and love to chew on spare items if they are left out. You will need to report to the Naefel Academy, I’m sure you can find your way, be sure to take any belongings with you.” Mei turned and with a giggle leaped back into the shadows. Leaving only the echo of her voice “Oh and Welcome to the Aligned Wing Forces. “

LET THEM EAT CAKE!! A girl like Melody never gave much thought to how much attention her hair. In fact she more or less thought at this point had expected that more exotic looks were likely to be around and herself to be rather plain. Maybe not by historic Earth ideals but hey whatever. She was far from a rebel. She was here because she was told to follow her heart and all those pretty little cliches. Due to her crazy life back on earth climbing a tree even with it's odd material not at all wood meant that she was able to scale it like a cat on crack more or less. Back on earth if you did not know how to climb higher then something trying to kill you it meant death. It for her however became a trait of something a little more lighthearted. Well maybe not for everyone but for her if you did not pepper some humor in you would be crushed by the darkness of what was what had happened. To some that made her insane or creepy but hey to each their own right?
She had found the egg that decided it wanted her and of course it seemed to match her. Blue spots to match her eyes and mostly pink to match her hair. She gave an amused smile at that but due to what she had seen the others do she decided to wing it. She knew from scattered noises of pain and some noises of explosions that likely this was not just some little hop and skip to get bonded but she did not get this far just to wimp out so she just pressed her hands onto the egg. Due to her concentration she did not notice the Kabit that had been helping the other Cadet's she had taken upon taken upon herself to copy. The pain was indeed scream worthy but she was far to stubborn of a girl to fall over and scream, or need someone to help her through it. She just stared at the egg wondering what would come out from this egg. She guessed some others took guesses to what the pain meant. Likely knowing ahead what they were getting into so the pain was a dead give away.
She however was not one of those people. She did not really know all about the elements or even all that much about the Cadets to be honest. When things were explained she had been thinking of fruit pies... So she knew something about elements and with process of elimination she knew it likely was water, fire, air, and earth but who knew these people were what humans could consider elves so maybe they had more then the typical elements? But for some reason the need for oxygen and the feeling of being crush made her at least guess it was not fire. She did not feel burning at least not fire burning. Crushing could have been from earth but... The fact she could not breath? Could that be from being buried alive or... Perhaps from drowning? She felt she could count that one out. She did not feel like the lack of oxygen was from water her lungs just felt like they needed air but not due to water filling them.
Then it hit her maybe it was just that. Maybe she was being crushed by air and she needed oxygen because she needed air because this was an air element and it was taking it from her due to the bond? Well she could be wrong it was kind of fun to guess anyways. She would find out anyways. She was silent while thinking of this. Even when the vents due to cracks forms with strange dim flashes of electricity peeked from between the seems. Suddenly as if to answer her the wind picked up around the egg and her making her hair and small pieces of the shell as it whirled in a funnel around her. Despite the pain and need to breatht hat made her slightly light headed she felt herself feel that feeling of adrenaline from when she saw storms. This had to be a air element... Then suddenly an almost sonic boom caused the shell split apart to reveal a jet blue drak. She finally was free from the shell so her pain slowly creased and her lungs finally were allowed to fill.
So of course the first thing she did was throw her arms over her head and give a "WHOO!" She then took a moment to look just what her drak looked like and noticed lightning marking and her eyes seemed to give a devious look. It however bubbled up just as quick as it grew devious. It chirped at her before nibbling at a spare piece of eggshell. This was when she noticed Mei her pupils narrowed suddenly as a part of her brain wanted to jump back. However despite the look of her eyes her composure held. "Oh hello." She said in a bubbly voice. Then she said it was a blade, it was a male, and asked for a name. So with a shrug she went with a male version of her type of name. "Rhythm." She said in the same tone. She watched the girl stand and noticed her drak had gone from being curious and such to being a tad bit more devious and feral. Was there a delay or had he picked up on her mood at being surprised? Hmm she would had to test that out.
Suddenly she was also told to be careful with a blade as they are quick to snap and love to spare on spare items if they are left out. Then she was to report to the Academy. That she was sure she could find her way and to be sure to take any belongings with her. Then turning with a giggle she leaped back into the shadows. Leaving only a echo of her voice to welcome her to the winged forces. She pursed her lips at that. "Well thanks I suppose." She then looked at her drak that was not wag her tag and bashing it into the tree. "What do we sat we sat hello to our new classmates?" She said with a smile. With a growl Rhythm just gave a lightning flame of a pink and blue and she grinned. "Brilliant lets go!" With that she jumped onto the blade's back and let him jump off the tree and let him in his awkward blade gait run off towards the academy while she laughed like a madwoman.
